Mammography Training for Continuing Students

Take time and think about it; over 90% of children born are breastfed at least once; I believe you are among them. Breastfeeding is essential for the health of a baby and contributes significantly to brain development. The organ that produces milk is called the mammary gland, and its study is called mammography. Research shows that in the US, 1 in every eight women is prone to breast cancer, a dreadful disease affecting our mothers, sisters, and daughters; that is why a team of specialists has dedicated all their time to mammography training.

Mammography training is a biological course dealing with imaging the internal organ of a mammary gland to develop a mammogram- picture, which doctors use to gauge the state of a breast’s health. In other words, it involves the training of radiographers responsible for breasts. This course tries to prepare students for a brighter future in helping doctors detect cancer at its early stages, perhaps before any physical signs.

Mammography training program for continuing student

Mammography training and education usually take along. After mastering the concepts of technology and biology, it’s time for practice.  It takes only 40 to 60 hours, which exempts the initial course work.

After completing the initial 40 hours, a mammogram clinical training program awaits. You will be required to perform more than 20 mammograms under an eyeful watch from your supervisor.

In California, candidates are paired into groups of two to a convenient location accompanied by a technologist. Before this training, an initial   ARRT- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate is required to prove your qualification.

The exam

After completing the 40 hours of training and imaging, be set for an exam. There is no time limit for taking exams after training. Humans tend to forget so fast what they have learned; therefore,  it is advisable to take an exam as soon as possible while the content is still fresh.

Exam criteria require certification by ARRT regarding specific licenses and interstate documentation.

What happens after training?

The obvious answer is the job markets await you. But you have one step left, keeping your mammography training certificate active. How do you keep it active? The human body is complicated; one small error may result in loss of life, and stakeholders may question your education and certification board’s integrity.

Regulations have been put in place to revisit your course work after every two years, a CE auditing process.

CE auditing has been there since 1995, and any radiologist must prove that they earn 24CE credit. It means that as qualified as you are, you will do an exam at every biennium-  730 days. At this time, the law requires that we should have done at least 200 mammography tests. A CE is a simple exam, and be sure you will pass.

Mammography training is special training that ensures radiologists stay fresh and knowledgeable. With it, we thank mammography specialists for the continuous positive change they are bringing, especially to women.
